SONE/WRIGHT/MIDLANE

Hello all

I am looking for information about John SONE (1716? place? - 16 Oct 1795, Warblington). This John SONE bequeathed 10 000pounds for a new catholic training college when the college at Douai in France closed because of the French revolution.I know John SONE and/or his father (hard to know which is which) had farming and milling interests and that the SONE family's interests were across to West Sussex but I can find little biographical detail about him, except a name for his father - also John SONE, his death date and a marriage to Ann MARTIN but no date for that. I think he was childless.

His sister was his heir - Martha WRIGHT nee SONE (1709 Warblington -1799 buried at Emsworth).  Her husband was John WRIGHT who is described in his middle age as 'gentleman of Emsworth".  I have no details about John WRIGHT at all apart from that reference in a legal document.

John and Martha WRIGHT had one child Mary (Jan 1791 - 1806 buried Emsworth)who married George MIDLANE in 1772 in London. The two children I have found for them were born in Warblington or Emsworth or Brockhampton 1774 and 1776 so they would surely have lived in the area.

Any information about George MIDLANE would be welcome as I have nothing except the marriage date for him.

I have good information from then on except that John MIDLANE son of George MIDLANE and Mary (Wright) was active in the Brockhampton RC chapel around 1800.  His second child was born in Brockhampton November 1803 and the third child January 1804 in West Camel Somerset where the family stayed. I wonder why they moved?

I have access to transcriptions RC Registers of Brockhampton from the mid 1700s to about 1825 and am happy to do lookups for anyone - they are a wealth of information.

If you are still reading - many thanks!  ANY info on any of this would be wonderful.
