Wearing apparel certainly sounds much more likely - and there was I imagining hereditary deafness
To find a bundle like these was a a real treasure trove, though it really needs Al to make a trip to Gloucester Archives and spend a couple of days poring over them to work out how the property passed from hand to hand. How the clerk kept in a straight line with sheets about 3 ft square I don't know. It was quite difficult trying to read from one line to the next, but then to find those little blue Inland Revenue forms which answered many of Al's questions was an exciting moment.
Regards
Gill

Al
Should have said that a second earlier Inland Revenue form was signed by Mary Hankins, confirming that she had inherited her sister Ann's estate.
Are things beginning to fall into place now? Any chance of you making a trip to Gloucester Archives to read all the documents?
Regards
Gill

Wow, Gill, that is awesome, over and above the call of duty on your part, send me the bill. It is everything I was looking for even at first glance and when I get a minute I will sort it all out, it has certainly answered a lot of questions! If I can ever do anything in return Gill in this Nuneaton/Warwickshire area please do not hesitate to ask. I will try my best to get down to have a look at those documents more fully sometime in the months ahead.
Very much appreciated by Al

You're very welcome, Al. I like a challenge, and this certainly had me guessing for a while.
I live within walking distance of the Record Office, but frustratingly have no Gloucestershire ancestors. However, I have found others so helpful on the Hunts and Lancs boards that I like to think that I'm repaying their kindness by doing Glos lookups. Thanks for your offer of Warks lookups, but no family there, either.
Regards
Gill
