I'm looking for a marriage between William Clemmet and Elizabeth surname unknown.
(possible surname variations: Clemmit/Clemment/Clemmenson/Clemmet/Clemett/Clemet/Clement etc etc)
The family were living in Blackgate, Coxhoe and christening children in Kelloe:
James 23 Apr 1780
Elizabeth 13 Feb 1782 (my line)
Ann 15 Aug 1783
Gilbert 9 OCt 1785
I also found 2 more possible earlier children chr in Bishop Middleham:
Mary Clement 4 Jun 1775
William Clement 8 Jun 1777
The reason I thought these two might be children of the right William and Elizabeth is that my Elizabeth chr 1782 said she was "a native of" Kelloe, Church Kelloe and Middleham on some of her own children's birth entries.
I have checked George Bell indexes for a marriage of William and Elizabeth but found none in either Kelloe or Bishop Middleham for several years either side of children's birth years.
Can anyone please help me find Elizabeth's maiden name?

Hi
The Joiner index offered two possible marriages 1775 +/- 10 years for a William Clement (with soundex) and an Elizabeth. They will charge you £2.50, paid using PayPal, to give you the date of the wedding and the Parish.
I think your wedding was probably in 1771. The IGI has William Clement marrying Elizabeth Burn on 17 Jun 1771 in St Giles, Durham. Unfortunately the on line Bishops' transcripts for St Giles run from 1777 to 1857 so I cannot check the entry to see if William's parish is mentioned. The Durham record office may have the original parish register for the wedding date and if so will send you a photocopy by post for about £5.

Added later:
Well, for starters, it looks like the father of the Elizabeth Burn who marries William Clement is Gilbert Burn (if I have the correct baptism). This looks quite positive as William and Elizabeth named a son Gilbert ... 
I can't see a marriage for the father Gilbert and no mother's name is mentioned on the IGI extracted baptisms of two other possible siblings also with father Gilbert - Gilbert chr in 1743 and John chr in 1745.
I am having problems getting into the Joiner Index at the moment. The marriage isn't on Durhamrecordsonline.

Hello Ruskie,
Just joining in the thread, as I am a direct descendant through Gilbert, Henry, Thomas, thomas, and Walter- David 1941.
I haven't trawled Gilbert for a number of years(pre online searching) and my rough notes indicate William m Elizabeth Burns 17/6/1771 at St Giles durham, but simply based on assumptions and constructs from IGI. Elizabeth's father seemed to be Gilbert Bourne .

Just for general information- how about the following construct-
Gilbert is the son of William Clement and Elizabeth Burn ( Bourne) married 1771. Elizabeth's father was Gilbert Bourne and her mother was Mary The children of William and Elizabeth were Mary, 1775, William 1777, James 1780, Elizabeth 1782 and Gilbert 1785. The naming pattern is obvious, leaving out only James. The IGI shows only 2 William Clement births in Durham between 1714-1754 ( aam 17-57), one of which was 1729 (aam 42) with father James. I haven't proved it - would need a death date for William as a starter- assume dead at 70 =1799, but it fits nicely, as all such constructs do until blown out of the water by facts

Hello David,
I have another possible child for William Cleme(n)t and Elizabeth:
Ann - 15 Aug 1783 (presumably this is a baptism date)
I'm not a very good keeper of detail or sources of info.

Me either- I get the bit between my teeth, search and scribble, go off on wild goose chases, and never find time to logically summarise, codify and edit all the stuff- my worst failing is not to file the negative information, so in 5 years time I'm sure i've looked into that, but will have to check!
Thanks for Ann- if she is another one then the logic of the naming pattern is that she is Williams mother, wife of James- to keep on stretching the construct-will search
