Wilshamstead PR lookup please - DILLY
« on: Wednesday 05 August 09 15:13 UTC (UK) »

Thomas and Elizabeth DILLY baptised the following children at Wilstead:
William 23 Feb 1735
Thomas 5 Sept 1736
Elizabeth 7 May 1738
William 20 Apr 1740
Mary 27 Feb 1743
John 28 Oct 1744
Mary 12 Nov 1751

If anyone has access to the transcript I'd be grateful to know if an occupation for Thomas the father is given against any of the baptisms. Tailor would be good! And, no, I'm not trying to stitch up anyone

Many thanks

David

Hello David,

There is not an occupation or any other detail on these baptisms;  or indeed on the subsequent burials.

The first William was buried 2 Mar 1735.
The first Mary buried 18 Mar 1743
The second Mary on 14 Nov 1751

Elizabeth wife of Thomas buried on 13 July 1758
& Thomas on 16 Apr 1777

I did notice burials of a William & a John Dilley in later years (but didn't write down the dates) were recorded as labourer, so if father Thomas was indeed a tailor, these children did not take to the family business.

regards John

Thanks John. I'm not entirely surprised!

All the best
