Nana's three smashers!

Hi
If anyone is able to help me please, I am looking for the baptism of William Dimmock, St Stephen's parish, St Albans, circa 1807.
William Dimmock is clearly defined as having been born St Stephen's, circa 1807, in almost every census between 1841 and 1881 although he lived his life in North Mymms, Hatfield.
He married in September 1828 at St Stephen's Parish, St Albans, to Esther Browne.
If anyone can help with a look-up for this baptism, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Regards, Carol

Searching the IGI plus or minus 5 years from 1806 these are all I could see both extracted records.
William Bandy Dimmock ch.30.3.180 North Mimms... father Samuel mother Ann
William Dimmox ch.7.6.1806 North Mimms.... father John mother Sarah.

Thank you, yes I had viewed the IGI but neither of these people fit the criteria. The one I am looking for was born St Stephen's, St Albans. Whilst William Dimmock lived at North Mymms throughout his lifetime, the evidence does not suggest he was born there. North Mymms fell within the Hatfield districts which is about 7 miles down the road from St Albans.
I will call in to Hertford Co. Records Office and look at the baptism register where, hopefully, it will have something to offer.
Just thought I would ask here first. Thank you for taking the time to reply, it is very kind of you. Carol

Following up the two baptisms Patrish found on the IGI, Samuel and Ann had several children baptised at North Mymms, but were married at St Peter's in St Albans in 1800. Similarly, here are the children listed on the IGI to John and Sarah Dimmock about that time: Hannah ch 1792 St Peter, St Albans Ann ch 1795 St Stephen, St Albans John ch 1803 North Mymms William ch 1806 North Mymms
Perhaps William was indeed baptised at North Mymms, but his family had only recently moved from the St Albans area - he may have been born in St Stephens (or perhaps thought he was) just before the family moved.

Hi Richard Thanks for your message and your interest in the Dimmock saga.
Since posting my original message I believe I have now identified the correct William Dimmock. The one you refer to, baptised North Mymms in 1806, appears in the 1841 census AS WELL AS my William Dimmock.
There were two William Dimmocks in 1841, one aged 40, married to Lydia at Water End in North Mymms, the other aged 40 married to Esther, resident at Roestock, Colney Heath. Remember ages were rounded in 1841 - the latter William Dommock, who later states he was born in St Peters and in St Stephens, St Albans is the one I was seeking. The former William Dimmock was the one born in 1806 at North Mymms - the person whom you have identified as a son of Samuel and Ann.
I have since located the burial of my William Dimmock and successfully traced his birth/baptism at St Peters, St Albans, in 1798, son of Thomas & Sarah.
Thank you again for your interest, it is always good to know that there are others who share my curiosity in trying to establish the accurate entries. Regards, Carol
