Hi i have 2 medels of G Bean York & Lanc. R . Number 30550 How do i trace the numbers or find out anything about them.

Hi Wendy,

A good start would be to pay £3.50 and download your man's medal index card from the National Archives Documents Online. You may learn details such as whether or not he was a casualty, the theatres of war in which he served, and such like. Here's the link:

Hi thank's just done that but am now confused even more. The only information i have on G Bean is the Sussex cricketer. did someone say this wasn't easy.can i get any more infomation .

Those WW1 soldiers papers that survive are at the National Archives in Kew.  The survival rate is very patchy but you could be lucky - see their information leaflet:

Yes he was famous for playing cricket, if i have the right Bean his brother was joeseph Bean he also played cricket.If my tree is correct. i do have another George around that time but his name was George Edward. I believe to be g bean's son.
