Dear all
I believe William Rumsey Price is the brother of my great grandfather James Price. The family were originally from Llangattock, Powys but moved to Aberaman, Aberdare where the youngest child Lewis was born in 1848.
I have found a reference in the registers for St John the Baptist Anglican Church at Aberdare to a marriage between William Rumsey Price (father James) and Joan Williams (father John) - both being of full age. The date of their marriage is 1866.
William Price would have been born around 1839 - 1841 (more likely 1840). I cant find a birth record searching Ancestry.com or Free BMD.
I'd be grateful for assistance in tracing a baptism - the child's parents were married in 1839 in Llangattock Church so I'm assuming they would have baptised their first born there also.

Thanks for your reply.
The parents would be James Price (carpenter) and Martha nee James. They may have been living at The Legar, Llangattock. I haven't obtained a copy of William's marriage certificate as I've only just found the reference.
They had four children in total
William born about 1839 -1841
James born April 1842
Ann born about 1845
all in Llangattock
and Lewis born 1847-1848 in Aberdare

Where did you get the info re second christian name Rumsey? There is no marriage on freebmd for a William Rumsey Price
There is a public members tree on Ancestry that shows Martha James parents as Lewis James and Anne Rumsey but it does not record any middle christian name for William

I must apologise - I should have said that I have quite a lot of information on the family through James Price, William's brother.
It's William's trail though that has eluded me.
I found the reference to William Rumsey Price marrying Joan Williams in the index book at our library for St John The Baptist church at Aberdare. The book also contains references to the burial of James Price senior (Martha's husband) and the baptism of the youngest child Lewis. Their sister Ann's marriage to John Jones is also recorded.
I don't know if this William Rumsey Price is the right person - but as Martha was a Rumsey, the father is stated as James in the church entry and other family members are mentioned at that church I thought it might be a strong possibility. I thought the best way to prove it was to try and find William's birth date or baptism.
I have come across the following marriage information on free bmd - Merthyr Tydfil district, page 418 vol 11a, March quarter 1866 although it only refers to William R Price and there happens to be a Joan Williams on the same page.
I can't find a William Rumsey Price possible birth unfortunately.
I can trace William on the census information until 1861 (he is about 21) but can't find him after that.
