Help to Find Mary Please?
« on: Friday 07 August 09 10:17 UTC (UK) »

Hi all,

I started this thread in the Nottinghamshire Section :

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,220966.0.html

Since then, I have ordered Mary Louisa Selby's death certificate and she died on 3 November 1902 at Langley House, Dig Street, Ashbourne.  She was a domestic servant. Aged 26 years.

My queries are :  (As I no longer have a subscription to A******y I am unable to view the Census):

(1) Is she shown on the 1901 Census in Ashbourne? or is she the one CaroleW has seen on the Leicester Census RG13 Piece 3008 Folio 78 Page 4?

(2) Where is she likely to be buried?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.

Hello,
The only suitable 1901 Entry is the one in Leicester, however it is possible that she changed her
occupation and moved to Ashbourne.

In the 1912 Kelly's Directory for Derbyshire
Langley House, Dig Street Ashbourne is a young ladies boarding & day school, run by a Charlotte Sutton.
The school was in existence in 1901 Census with Miss Charlotte Sutton as head, there is no entry for
Mary Louisa Selby at this address in the 1901 Census.

I would assume she was a servant in the house 1901-1902.
