Tewkesbury census look up please II
« on: Friday 07 August 09 13:17 UTC (UK) »

Sorry to be a pain and I know that I am taking advantage of you, and I know that I should have thought of this before I made my last post, but I would like to complete the picture. Is there any chance that someone could look up John and Ann Freeman in Tewkesbury in 1841? They should be there as they were married in 1839.
I am really sorry to be a nuisance.  Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed

Thank you very much.
I'll think about the ?Baiters Garden. The only like address I can think of offhand is Spring Gardens, but that doesn't look like ?Baiter's Garden. I'll dwell on it.
Again thank you for your trouble and I am sorry to be a pain.

I have to agree with your reading of this. However, I will stare and stare, enhance and sharpen etc. etc. etc. and see if I can work out where it is meant to be. I'm not a native of Tewkesbury, although I have been studying its history with reference to my family history research. I have some old maps and history books and you never know what I might find (or not).
Again thank you for your trouble.

I've found Rudgeway Farm on the 1888 map and John Freeman is listed as an agricultural labourer. Hopefully this gives me a pointer in the right direction. Many thanks Tati.

Hi - just been reading your query on 1841 Census - Address is Barbers Garden
Also have a John Freeman age 44, gardener - buried in Tewkesbury Cemetery on 17th November 1859. Grave Ref: 248

All of the places are to the south of Tewkesbury, moving towards the town-

Southwick (Park)
Rudgeway Farm
Gupshill/Gubshill Barn is the PH (pub) by the battle symbol.
Perry Hill is in Priors Park estate
Lower Lode Lane goes down to the Severn - there's a tollhouse near the end of it.
Gloucester Row are houses almost opposite the abbey.
