Hi
I am currently working on a book on the streets  - Monck Street will be included. The buildings from the 1930s are relatively intact. Most renovations were at the seaward end.

What address are you looking for? Maybe someone local could take a picture for you?

The Georgians rebuilt much of Monck Street with houses for the middle class.
In 1809 number 7 was to let with good stable and yard, furnished or unfurnished.
To be sold in 1831 were houses and ground rents at Ram Street, Monck Street, Wellington Place and Wilson’s Lane. All were part of the Estate of Maurice Crosby Harvey.
The Crown Hotel, a coaching inn, now The Crown Bar, was established in 1885.
The Saddle Warehouse was at Monck Street 1908.
Kelly's pub at the corner of Monck Street was very popular with the people of the Selskar area. It is well known later as the Bohemian Lounge Bar, once the home of Balfe the composer.
In Griffith’s Valuation the principal land owners here were Mary Ann O’Leary, Newton King & Mrs. Tighe, John E Hadden, James Sutherland, James Sinnott, John Stafford, Reverend Henry R Harvey, James Colfer, James Boxwell, Nicholas Scallan and the reps of William Taylor.
Some of the information to be used in the book.

Do you know if any street directories are available for Wexford in the 1930's and 40's.
Thanks again. Smiley

If someone could look up the Electoral Rolls it would be a great help. What names are you looking for?

'Origins Network' will give the names of the occupiers, but no description of the actual houses. Smiley
