Castlehill farm, Kilmacolm, 1877
« on: Sunday 09 August 09 07:04 UTC (UK) »

Hi, does anyone have any idea, who might have owned Castlehill Farm in Kilmacolm in 1877, or how I would go about finding out this information.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Gill

You could try the Sasines:

Hi Shirley  Smiley

Does it definitely say that she's the owner?  There were still a considerable number of large tenant farmers around then and he may have just been the occupier.

Interesting:

The family were there in 1871* (called just Castlehill) and in 1881. In 1861, there was a farm called Little Castlehill but not Castlehill and,  by 1891, it seems to not exist. Where it should be are some 'villas' (based on the farm next to it being called Auchenbothie).

Is it where Laigh Castlehill is today?
