I am looking for the surname of Elizabeth who married Richard Nendick in Malton District SQ 1864 cert. 9d 527 Although on the 1911 census Richard is 'married' there is no mention of his wife, or his son, who I am eager to find as he is Nora's father. I am interested in any of this family; Hilda Nendick b. 1899 g.daughter. Lily Nendick b 1878 daughter, Nora Nendick b 1890 g,daughter. or anything about the Nendicks in Flaxton around this time. They lived at The Gate House, Flaxon. If you can help in any way I would be very pleased. Thanks in anticipation. Marion.

Hi
Welcome to rootschat
As there is only one Elizabeth listed on freebmd on this marriage I would imagine it is Elizabeth Bowes. http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl A childrens birth certificate or the marriage certificate of Richard and Elizabeth is the only way to be 100% sure.

Tati, you are magic! Thanks for the info. I have been searching for ages and you have found so much. I could not find a census with any of the children of Richard and Elizabeth other than Lily on the 1901 so I really would appreciate any information on those and Thomas, plus any others - completely new to me. Which census did you find the family on? Wow that's great. truly grateful Marion

Tati, Many many thanks for those - sorry to keep you so busy, but really do appreciate your help. the 'NER' Gatehouse explains alot. He was obviously on the crossing gates, rather than as I had thought, house called The gate House. Must try to visit and see if it is still there. Thanks. Marion.

Hi again Sorry for delay but I have had problems with my pc - it froze due to unlimited number of pop ups adverts!! Back safe and 'clean' (Do you get these on this site?) So it looks as though Nora could be either Jane or Lucy's daughter. Hmm. It doesn't look as if you got my last reply either! I sent it twice but with all the problems it obviously didn't get through. I did mention that I had sent for Nora's birth certificate and am waiting. Also that the family had suspicions about Lily's virtues! Perhaps a few others too! Can't find Richards death up to 1924. Sorry you didn't get the replies it was quite a long one and I wrote it twice. Also NER Gate House explains alot as that is the railway crossing house and not just one named The Gate House. Very very grateful, sorry about my lost replies so frustrating for a beginner and this is such a wonderfuls ite to find. Thanks for your help, Marion
