McLeods in Fife
« on: Monday 10 August 09 16:37 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to establish a link between Marion McLeod b. c 1810 in Burntisland Fife and William McLeod b. 1812 also in Fife. A common ancestor would be wonderful.
Marion married Robert Moyes in 1830.
William married Isobel Robinson in 1832. Their son Alexander moved to work in Woolwich Arsenal and later was the founder of the Royal Arsenal Cooperative Society.

Hi and welcome to RC!!

SP has the following:

no birth entry for Marion.
I found William McLeod b. 5/10/1812 in Burntisland to William McLeod & Margaret Balmain so i did a parent search of births 1790 - 1840 and found 3:

William McLeod 5/10/1812
Elizabeth mcLeod b 25/5/1823
William McLeod 22/10/1825

these were the only ones which seems a bit odd with the break in dates. but also - William 1812 must have died and the second William can not be the one that married isobel so i am confused!!

Hi Diddy
thanks for the info. I am also rather confused. I found William and Margaret's family list with 2 Williams an Elizabeth but also
Isabella 24/8/1817
Catherine 1/6/1821
Robert 12/8/1819

If I didn't know that Marrian McLeod was my husband's gg/grandmother, I'd begin to believe she never existed.
thanks anyway
