My gg grandfather was in the Seaforth highlanders bamton reg but i was wondering what other regiments there was for the Cumberland man

The Border regiment mainly I think.

Thanks Geoff,if one member of your family was in a certain reg would the rest of the family follow you into the same regiment???

Many men joined regiments without any local connection, depending on recruiting policies at the time they were attested.  The Seaforths had no link with Cumberland, but your man may have had a reason to join them, or they were short at the time.  Some men travelled great distances to join units far from home, in some cases merely to travel and see the country!
Ther are many cases where brothers joined the same regiment, but probably just as many who did not.

My nan told me that her father was a short man,i didn't realize that the Seaforths did have a contention with Cumberland.Thanks you
