Audrey, Only just managed to get onto Rootschat, it's taken me 4 weeks to do it, with the help of a friend. I noticed your message re John douglas and Sarah Hunter. My great great grandfather was John "Dandy" Douglas. Son of David Douglas and Janet Walker.  David was the son of John Douglas and Sarah Hunter. Their children were David born 1768.Margaret bapt 18 Feb 1770 Ruthwell. Margaret bapt 21 May 1772 Ruthwell. Janet bapt 6th May ? Ruthwell. Jamesina Hunter bapt 24 Nov 1775 Ruthwell. Elizabeth(Betty) born 2 Nov 1778,bapt 7 Nov 1778. Adam born 18 Feb 1781 Ruthwell. James and Hugh R born 1782 and about 1784 (both went to live in Canada. John bapt 5 oct 1785 Ruthwell. David (a farmer married Janet Walker) they had Sarah born 1793 Cummertrees, James bapt 15 May 1800 Cummertrees, Jean bapt 2 Oct 1804, Priestside,Cummertrees, Helen bapt 10 Nov 1806,Cummertrees, John born about 1797 Cummertrees possibly btp 23 March 1800. John married Jane Johnston Bell 23 May 1831. Do you think we are rearching the same people.

James Douglas born May 1800 married Ann Smith both died from Cholera 1848 one of their Daughters Mary Douglas born 1833 was my G.Grandmother

I have the same date of birth as you for Sarah Hunter 10/7/1748 at Hoddam
father John Hunter

there is also 2 more children for Sarah and John Douglas

Janet 5/5/1873

Elizabeth 1/11/1878 Ruthwell

had no luck with a marriage yet
