Searching SALLISS in Wiltshire perhaps?
« on: Tuesday 11 August 09 22:10 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I am trying to find the parents of Jacob Salliss supposedly born in Eastington c 1790 Glos but to no avail.  I think he had siblings Joseph and John but maybe also Isaac, Jabez and Stephen.  I have  searched all the IGI records up to 1812 but not found any  of them in Glos. I have found a couple in Wiltshire on census records and a marriage of an Isaac Salliss to Jane Hayward in 1780 at Preston nr Cirencester.

I think this marriage is quite possibly the parents of Jacob as the name Hayward is used as a middle name for his son and grandson.

Also, Isaac Salliss married Betty Holbrow at West Kington, Wilts  in 1799 and Stephen Salliss son of Jabez Salliss was born 9.11.1797 Nettleton Wilts and a marriage recorded for Stephen to Ann Ford 13.10.1817 Marlborough.

I think all these could be connected as all the above names appear in the family from 1820 onwards right up to at least 1900.

I cannot make the link, so if there is anyone  who has access to Wiltshire PR's or has them in their tree, I would love to  hear from you.

Thank you.

Elizabeth
