When were they supposed to be married?

What do you mean, if they weren't married what can you do?  If they had children, you can still find the births etc.

I think they should of been married in Hexham but William was from Maryport
around 1899.

They did have a child my gt grandmother and it says that Sarah was Moore but i am finding that hard to prove.

I mean if they didn't married how am i to find out who there fathers where as i need the marriage cert to move on

I have the same problem with my g.grandparents.  I know all about my g.gran as she was previously married, but I can't find a marriage for her to my g.grandfather.  As he was born in Bethnal Green, Middlesex and has a very common name, I'm totally stuck without his father's name.

Have you found William or Sarah on the 1891 or earlier census, before their marriage?  You might be able to find their parents and siblings that way.  Perhaps one or both of them had married previously.  If you have a death cert for William, the easiest as he probably won't have changed his surname, you will be able to work out a year of birth, to check against the census.

It was very naughty of them to do that to me,you would think that they would have more consideration for their descendants Smiley
