park(e) family desertcreat
« on: Wednesday 12 August 09 16:34 UTC (UK) »

Hi, I am desperatley trying to view a birth record of an Ethel Maud Kathleen Park(e) born in 1908.  BRS have it on their website, but you can only pay by credit card - I only have switch/debit cards!  Can anyone tell me if there is another site which will let me view the record and pay by switch.  I need to see who her parents are, as I believe she is my great aunt.

Many thanks

Judith,
I cannot help directly with your query but I noticed that your Ethel Maud Kathleen Parke married Robert Turkington in Sandholes Presbyterian Church on 28 Oct 1936. My brother-in -law, recently deceased, was the son of David Oliver Turkington of Sandholes, Co Tyrone. When you have done another two postings I can contact you by personal message.

Regards

Thank you so much for replying! This throws another spanner in the works, as I was led to believe my Ethel Maud Kathleen never married!I have her death date, and her headstone inscription, and the only Parke I could find with those three names was born in 1908, although her parents married in 1917.  I possibly have the wrong Ethel, however its very strange to have 2 people in the same locality with three forenames the same.  Do you have a death date for your Ethel?

Many thanks

Judith,
I am afraid that I have no information on Ethel other than the marriage. On your posting I entered her name into Emerald Ancestors and the Turkington name and location came out. If you wish I can ask my sister if she has any information or if she can find anything from the family.

Again, thanks for your reply.  I know that my ethel died in 1999, and is buried in Cookstown Cemetary along with her parents.  I think I might be on the wrong track, but again the name is drawing me into some sort of family scandal!  I had originally ignored my immediate family, and have been trying to find info on Ethels grandparents, Robert Parke born 1864 Cookstown and Eleanor Reid, born c.1871.  They were married 22 mar 1887 at 2nd Stewartstown Pres, but I can find no trace of their children, except for my great grandfather Robert and a child who died in infancy called Edith Barbara.  Family legend has it that Robt and Eleanor had 7 sons, and owned a mill in Desertcreat where a 3 yr old girl died in a tragic fire, however as yet I have found no information to corroborate any of this info!Any info you have on this area much appreciated!Again, thank you for taking the time to reply to my post - this is all new to me!

Regards
