Completed - Kegworth Baptism
« on: Thursday 13 August 09 13:05 UTC (UK) »

Hi there,
If anyone is visiting Loughborough Library at any point I would be very grateful for a look-up of a Kegworth Baptism - I believe they have the relevent microfiche/film there.

I'm hoping to find the baptism of Thomas Young born c.1827, father Henry Young.

Many thanks,

Thanks so much Diddy,

That indicates my suspiscions may be correct - I have Henry and his wife Catharine Johnson as parents of my GGGrandmother, also Catharine, born 14th Nov 1839. But I had serious doubts as to whether Catharine Johnson was the mother of Henry's first 6 children as she would only have been about 14 or 15 when Thomas was born. Plus there is approx 3 or 4 yrs gap between child number 6 and Catharine (b.1839).

Added to that I had found on familysearch, a marriage between a Henry Young and an Ann Johnson 13th Oct 1826 - maybe it's a big conclusion to draw but perhaps Ann and Catherine were sisters?

Isn't it a great feeling when these things work out as you suspected!

Once again, thanks very much for taking the time to do the look-up for me.
Kind regards,

Thanks Diddy,

It would be great to fill in some more gaps, the other children, Ann's death and then the marriage to Catherine which seems to be pre general registration, but that's a lot to ask for.

Perhaps for now, just the next 2 children - Henry 1828/29 and John 1829/30.

No rush, whenever you happen to be in the library would be fantastic.

Hi David, i found the births plus another - william as I was going to and fro across the page:

mar 8th 1829: Henry  s of Henry & Anne Young.  kegworth. labourer

sept 24th 1830: John  s of Henry & Catherine Young. kegworth. labourer.

Apr 22nd 1832: William  s of henry & Catherine Young. kegworth. labourer.

conclusion Anne died between mar 1829 -sept 1830!!  HENCE:

death. May 10th 1829: Ann Young  age 30

however i looked between 1828 - 1832 and can't find the marriage of Henry & Catherinec  Huh

but anyway something to be going on with.

Hi Diddy,

Thanks very very much for the info.

I am a little surprised that Catherine's first child was John, I was expecting all of the first 6 to be Ann's until Catharine in 1839, but it seems only the first 2 are hers.

Very curious that the marriage of Henry and Catharine doesn't show up too, particularly as they are having the children baptised? - the vicar would almost certainly know if they were married or not and I would have thought that would make a difference to what was put in the register if he knew that they were not married.

I shall have to ponder a while.

Thanks and regards, Belinda
