Hi, I've found a record of George Moore born in Union House, Durham in 1851.  Can anyone tell me, is Union House a workhouse and if so is it in the Chester le Street area?

Hello,

Sorry cannot tell if it is a workhouse or not from the info you have provided.  However, the record itself should be a good indicator whether it is a workhouse or not, ie lots of seemingly unrelated individuals and an 'Institution' returns page rather than a household one.
