My g-grandfather was James Alexander Longmuir, b. Glasgow in 1854. His father was William Fisher Longmuir who married Jane? Wishart on 5.4.1854 in Glasgow. Anything further on them would be most helpful. I understand she died, he remarried his housekeeper, then when he died, the second wife emigrated, making off with all the family fortune!
Does this ring any bells? HH
New info.is that he re-married twice more:
Eliza Kerwick or O'Keffe b. Ireland <1828>, with whom he had Charlotte b.1860 (No trace of marriage)
Helen Methven Napier b.1836, married 5.12.1888 in Arbroath
He died in Dundee in 1892. He was an Insurance Agent all his working life. HH

I don't know if this would help you or but I have a Thomas Wishart born abt 1762 in Kilconquhar, Fife. He was married to Chritian Leetch born Dec 5, 1766, Kilconquhar, Fife, and they married on Mar 4, 1789 in Klconquhar, Fife. There were six children born to this family:
Janet, 1790
Elizabeth, 1792

Hello again wmouse,
I've now verified that my Miss Wishart was Jane. She married in Glasgow in 1854 and had a son there later that year. I suspect she died having him, as I can find no trace from 1855 onwards, from when records were available, of her death. Her husband re-married about 1859, so it may have been later and I just can't find her. They certainly did not have any more children.
