Philip Going - Portswood Hotel - Southampton

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about the above gentleman and his family. They owned the Portswood Hotel ( now the Hobbit pub) 134 bevious Vally Rd, Southampton in 1911.
There were 3 sons  - George, Philip J and Arthur , and two daughters, Ellen and Annie Mary in their family.

If anyone knows anyone who might know of this family or living relatives I'd be most greatfull.
If not maybe someone could give me some hint on how I might find out more on them.

You could look them up on the 1911 census. It will say how many children were born in total, and if any died. It will also say how many years they were married, and so you could find their marriage date from that on one of the sites. If you then obtain a copy of the marriage certificate it will then give you the wife's maiden name, and then you will be able to see their father's names documented as well. Then you would be able to move back further on your family tree.

I'm actually trying to 'move forward' in this tree - if you understand what I am saying...

I have the previous generations of this family but I'm actually looking for decendents of the children ... any ideas ?

I have searched the 1911 census ... and it has got me where I am now  ... I'm just looking to come forward to present day ..

You can view Southampton street directories online

http://www.plimsoll.org/Southampton/streetdirectories/default.asp

From these you might be able to find out how long Philip GOING stayed at The Portswood Hotel and perhaps trace his children if they stayed in the area.

You should also be able to find their marriages on FreeBMD.
