Hi Margaret
There's also a death on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site for a Walter Redding of the North Staffs Regt.
Slight difference.
Coming up with link.
Best wishes

Hi
Details are:
Redding, Walter, Private, Service No 49422, Died 30 Oct 1917, Aged 36,
North Staffordshire Regiment, UK National, Grave/Memorial ref., Old. NG.13,
Grave/ Memorial - West Bromwich : Churchyard extensions.
http://www.rootschat.com/links/06wl/
It looks as if he died in Newcastle but either was buried in West Bromwich, or appears on a memorial there.
When I was searching for a WW1 death for a friend, I phoned CWGC and was told that the details are as were given by the relatives after the war.
They also told me that anyone who died in this country would have a choice - or the family would - of being buried where they fell, or being returned home.
Best wishes

Hi Margaret
I'm glad it helped. So I gather all the info is your Walter? I've not used Newcastle, so I don't know but I'm sure someone will!
Of course the other thing you could do, is see if anyone in West Brom knows if this a memorial or a burial or both, in the churchyard. For larger places, you would think that by this date they wouldn't have been burying in the churchyard anyway!
If there is a burial register and he's been buried there, it may well have a comment that ties in with the death in Newcastle. eg Removed from Newcastle.
Let us know how you get on.
Best wishes

Walter Redding is buried in West Brom, along with 112 other Commonwealth graves,
Go onto CWGC ,click on the arrow next to casualty, this will drop down to cemeteries, give it time to changeover, then type or cut and paste WEST BROMWICH (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD EXTENSIONS Press submit, Click WEST BROMWICH (ALL SAINTS) CHURCHYARD EXTENSIONS Click cemetery reports, then section P-R
Just seen your post on the Staffordshire board,

Yes,I thought about that to,but i got the impression from her last post that she was starting to waver towards a Newcastle burial, when Walter is infact in West Brom, Grave ref, Old. NG. 13.
