is there anyway at all that the elizabeth mcarthur could be my elizabeth caldwell?

maybe she was married to a mcarthur or a caldwell before marrying william easdale, yet only provided 1 surname for the entries??

I still don't understand why i cannot find anything for david and i have used a few searches

Laura, we're assuming that David was born in Scotland. What if he was born in Ireland? I have checked the 1901 English census and nothing obvious shows there  Undecided

There is a relatively new database that has been released http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable which lets you search for BMDs in Ireland. Might be worthwhile you posting on the General Ireland board here on RC and asking for help.
