Hi Ed,

Do the death/burial records for either of them give an age at death?

Hi Jill

Nothing for George but Margaret was age 70 so her birth would be abt 1736.I have their children born Leven 1760-1772.

Hi Ed,

This might help (hopefully!). I popped into the RO this morning and looked up the Catwick marriage.

George Mercer was of Hornsea, and Margaret Kidd of this parish, and one of the witnesses was a William Kidd - possibly Margaret's father or brother?

Thanks Jill-a place to start.
A quick look at IGI showed a William Kidd having children baptised in Wawne and Swine in late 1720 and early 1730-no Margaret. Also a Robert Mercer doing the same in Hornsea in 1730's.
Next step is to order some microfilm and see what may have been missed

Thanks
