Hi Does anyone have access to Bunny Parish Records? The village has them on line and they show my Gt gt gt gt gt grandfather Richard Mitchel being baptized in Bunny on 17.6.1759, the son of John & Dorothy. However the IGI has him baptized the same day as the son of William & Mary.
Can anyone tell me which is correct?
Many thanks
Pauline

Hi Pauline
On the Notts FHS CD of Baptisms his parents are John & Dorothy. I am fairly sure that that information was from PR's, but the souce on the IGI say it was from the BT's. Are there any clues from Richards childrens names.
I hope to get to Notts RO within the next couple of weeks so I will have a look at both.
Carol

Thanks for that, it would be very kind of you.
Yes there are clues from Richard's children. They called the first Mary which was the wife's name (as well as a possible mother from the William & Mary link), then Sarah (a name of a sister if he was born of John and Dorothy) then William i.e from the William and Mary link. No John , no Dorothy. This leads me to incline to William & Mary but I'm reluctant to go for the IGI, especially in preference to Bunny's own people.
hope to hear from you in due course

Hi Pauline
I checked both the PR's & the BT's and yes they do say different parents. There are no clues on either entries apart from in the PR's there is a marriage the same year for a John Mitchel & Dororthy Walker 11 Jan 1759. I also noticed that there was only one child baptised to John & Dorothy so did they move or did one of them die? Also children born to William & Mary seemed to be spaced out a bit, so if they had Richard in 1759, Mary had two children fairly close together.

Thanks for looking.
It appears that John & Dorothy had their other children baptized at Normanton on Soar.
I guess the only thing I can do is to try and trace back beyond both William & John and see if a Richard appears somewhere.
I have not come across a discrepancy like this before so I'm not sure what its significance is.
Thanks again for your help
Pauline
