I'm trying to piece together the familial relationships of my Carver relatives in the Hull area and would be much better prepared for this task if I could find a map that showed the sub-districts over time. For instance, in the period immediately after 1837, Sutton, Myton and Humber were three such districts (not sure about Sculcoates) but by the early 1900s, we have a lot more - Southcoates, W and E Sculcoates and all the rest.
Does anyone have any idea where I can get a simple map that shows the physical proximity of one area to another? I am assuming that the 1830s sub-districts were themselves sub divided at some stage. If anyone knows precisely when this happened, I'd love to hear. Thanks

The sub-districts were electoral wards, and proliferated as the city grew. If you can wait a while I can probably get you the info from the Local Studies library, but they are big maps and it would be difficult to photocopy all of them. If you can give me a specific year, or a couple of different years, I can do a comparison for you. Let me know if you want me to do this.

Would it help if I gave you some of the addresses that I have for various people? I appreciate your explanation, which might well mean that rather than my rellies moving around a lot might indicate that the administrative name for the district where they lived changed instead. I have a list of birth records, showing all the districts mentioned above and one of these days I must get to Hull to visit the Records Office to inspect the actual records.
Many thanks for the offer
