Edward Wm Rees - Llanidloes b.1825/9
« on: Wednesday 19 August 09 22:22 UTC (UK) »

Edward William Rees was born either in 1825 or 1829 in Llanidloes. He married twice and I am the great great granddaughter of him and his second wife - Eleanor. His father - also called Edward Rees - was a school teacher - according to the second marriage certificate in 1871. I don't know whether he was a teacher in Llanidloes. Any information would be gratefully received about Edward William's mother, brothers or sisters, or even grandparents (I should be so lucky Roll Eyes!

I have had difficulty trying to find the 2 generations of Edwards together in the 1841 census.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Hi fisherj,

Have you looked for the father in later censuses?

In the 1851 census there is an Edward Rees aged 56 who is a parish clerk and school master living in Llangurig and married to Anne aged 54 with 3 children. I've found the same family on the 1841 census (living in Llangirrig, Upper Llandiloes which presumably is the same place spelt slightly differently) and there is no sign of Edward Wiiliam Rees but if he was born in 1825 then he is old enough to be out working somewhere. Could that be the family?

Cheers,
Gwyn
