Please could someone supply birth information for two Henry Bowles Downings. I am getting a little confused because of people with the same name! From Family Search it appears that Thomas Orford Downing and Ann Pool (who married at Old Swinford) had 9 children (that I have found…) Their first born, Henry Bowles Downing was born 15 Nov 1769 in Enville and then, apparently, four sons later they had another Henry Bowles Downing born 10 April 1780 and christened 20 Feb 1783 at Brierley Hill, along with siblings Frances, Mary and William. I have discovered that in 1788 Thomas and Ann took out a £200 mortgage for land in Wordsley and then in 1789 extended the mortgage by another £120 for the same land in Kingswinford. So at some point Thomas moved from Enville, where he was born, to Wordsley, where his mother, Mary Smith was born and possibly settled in Kingswinford where they bought land.
If anyone could help me to unravel the mystery of the children of Thomas and Ann I’d be grateful! Many thanks Helen

Hi Rosie Thanks for the reply. I am researching for a friend. HBD who was buried Apr 1765 at Enville is Thomas Orford Downing's father and was Rector of Enville. I reckon the two HBD's who are buried in Old Swinford may be descended from one of Thomas's siblings - probably John, who was also Rector of Enville.
Thanks for the burial date for the first of the two HBD sons of Thomas. It seems likely that the second HBD moved to Manchester and is my friend's 3 great grandfather. It's very confusing having the same names but the dates help! Thanks again
Kind regards Helen
