I am seeking help to find information about the family and descendants of Andrew ADAMS, who was born about1827 in Upper Canada (probably Edwardsburgh), the son of Andrew ADAMS and Catherine WRIGHT.

Peggy and Hibee

Thank you for your replies.

Peggy, I knew the 1890 census was scarce, but didn't know why. I'm sure it would fill in some holes if it was available.

Hibee, Andrew was born in Canada. His grandfather Capt. Andrew ADAMS of Newtown, Fairfield, Connecticut came north with other United Empire Loyalists about 1790. The family is originally from England.

http://www.oleanlibrary.org/
 - look here at the genealogy section. There are links to various Olean city directories and cemetery records.
I looked at the directories (skipped a few years)

They're not in 1887-1888 directory of Olean.

1889-1890
Andrew Adams, currier, 200 State
Mrs Jane
Edward
Ethel

1891-1892
Andrew Adams, currier, 48 Eleventh
Mrs Jane
Ethel B
Edwin G
Mrs Emma

1897
Andrew Adams, carpenter, 48 Eleventh  (Jane)
Edwin G Adams, currier, 236 State (Emma)

1898
Andrew Adams, 125 S Eleventh (no wife listed)
Edwin G, 125 S Eleventh (Emma)

1901
Andrew Adams, 125 S Eleventh
Edwin (Emma) Adams, 210 N Sixth
Ethelyn B Adams, teacher No. 2 School, res. 125 S Eleventh

1904
no Andrew
Edwin G Adams, fireman P.R.R, 222 N. Seventh
Mrs Emma
Maud L
Merrill B

Ethelyn doesn't appear in the main directory but she is listed as a teacher in No 2. School?

Nothing in the 1906

http://fultonhistory.com has newspapers and one from 1910 that states:
Miss Ethelyn B. Adams of California is a guess of Mrs E. M. Adams. Miss Adams was a York state girl but has  been teaching in Long Beach and Pasadena for about six years.

I found notices in the Olean Times from August through October, 1924 that refer to the estate of Andrew Adams, late of the City of Olean.  The administrators are listed as Anna Adams and John T. Heenan.  Not sure if he's the right guy, but thought there might be a connection.

Shellyesq and Jorose, thank you so much for this information.

I am not sure how I missed all those directories Jorose, but I will be sure to go through them carefully.

Shellyesq, a quick look at the 1920 census leads me to believe the references you found were for an Andrew ADAMS born about 1857 in Russia. His wife was Anna, also born in Russia.
