Hi
Would someone possibly be able to do a look up for me please. I am looking for the birth/baptism of Emma ALLDRED. She is shown on the 1871 census as being born c1860 in Kelham, Newark, Notts. She is the daughter of George ALLDRED & Frances (known also as Fanny) Herring, they married in St Marys Parish Church Nottingham in 1857. So I am wondering if thats where Emmas baptism may be found. There were also other children, so if Emma is unable to be found any reference to George & Frances children would be most appreciated.
Thank you ALison

have you looked for the other children's baptisms on the IGI?
I can't find a baptism or birth reg for Emma The children seem to be born in different places
1861 census there are 3 children George R age 5 b grantham Lincs this seems to be his birth reg FreeBMD George Richard Alldred Mar qtr 1858 Grantham 7a 420
Emma age 1 b kelham Notts only birth reg i can find is for Emma Alldred Mar qtr 1861 Hoxne 4a 517(as this covers Norfolk/Suffolk it would be surpising if it was her.
Arthur Alldred age 8wks Clerkenwell there is this birth reg Arthur Alldred mar qtr 1861 Clerkenwell 1b 554
They certainly moved around a lot.
do you have census with children on?
or is it just baptisms you are looking for???

Hi Suz
Tried the IGI not much help.
TRying to find Emma's baptism inparticular as can't find a relevant birth record. Big brother George as you rightly pointed out was born in Grantham, but appears to have been baptised elsewhere. There is also Guimen who was also born around 1860 in Notts, who only appears to exist on the 1881 census. Again no birth records. Too many possible places to try in Clerkenwell for the younger ones.
THeir father George was a stonemason builder, his abilities were requested all over the uk apparently.
Thank you Alison

By the age it looks like "Guimen" is Emma - looking at the 1881 image -although I can't decipher it I don't think it is "Guimen" - it does begin with G tho
I wondered if Emma was maybe registered late . I do have one in my family who was registered a year late - that is because his dad was sent to register the birth and he got "sidetracked" and daren't tell "Mum" -so he waited a year and then registered - so the birth cert has correct day and month -but is a year out!!!

It did cross my mind they may be one and the same person. If that is a late registration for Emma though, the next siblings down from her were in Middlesex it wasnt til some years later there were a couple in Suffolk.
I appreciate your input. These few have been on the back boiler for a few years, while working on the other side of the family, it would be good to finally solve them, and someones elses perspective is most refreshing.
Thanks
