Nicholas Hixon in Norfolk
« on: Friday 21 August 09 14:34 UTC (UK) »

I have had a family legend from a Hixon researcher of a Nicholas Hixon who was  a smuggler , who was caught taking tea over London Bridge . He had two children, one called Nicholas and he jumped ship in Swansea ( he says about 1810) and was on the run.

My Great x 3 Grandfather was Nicholas Hixon who married a Mary Morgan in 1801 in Swansea .  He was supposed to be a sailor and his son (and subsequent family) were certainly well know local smugglers!  Shocked Shocked

Does anyone know of any HIXON links in Norfolk. I can't find any records at all of a Nicholas Hixon born about 1758.

Thank

question

wouldn't it be an earlier date you're looking for?   if all these events took place in early 1800's  1878 would be too old, no?
