St Peters Church - is there one in Brotton?

Hi,

I am doing some research on Amelia Solomon (nee Minetta) who was living in Brotton.  They did live also in Skinningrove in 1911 also.  I have managed to find a record that suggests she was burried in St Peters church sometime in the 1930s - record states 193? - does anyone know if there is a St Peters in Brotton?  I can find C o E schools called St Peters but no church of St Peters.  Does anyone with any local knowledge know if there is a church or if it had been renamed?

Any help greately appreciated.

Hi Neo,

St. Peter's Churchyard is on Kilton Lane between Brotton and Lingdale.  I believe the ruins of the church are still in the churchyard.  I have the Monumental Inscriptions which give a map of the churchyard.  Unfortunately the MI for Amelia simply reads

In memory of Amelia SOLOMON 193..

There are no other SOLOMONs on the list

Thank you very much for the information.  Is there likely to be any other information on the stone or is that the complete piece?  It seems rather short don't you think?  Also are you able to send me a copy of the map of the churchyard so I can locate the stone?
