Barbara McLeod from Blairgowrie in Scotland
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 07:31 UTC (UK) »

Looking for details of some ancestors of my husband - when they were children, all six children were put in "Quarriers Orphanages", near Glasgow, owing to deaths of their parents with T.B.
1. MARY MCLEOD b. 2 May, 1899 (twin) at Fettercairn, county of Kincardine; think she married and lived in Perth, Scotland.
Husband's name not known, or of any children??.
2. brother MALCOLM McLEOD, b. 18 April, 1902, Blairgowrie, Scotland.  Engine-driver.  Think he died 1961-2.  Marriage or children not known??
3. sister BARBARA McLEOD b. 26 June, 1906, Blairgowrie, think she was teacher, and died in Inverness in 1982.  Not known if married or had children?? Was Petty-Officer in British Navy during W.W.2, and at one time was in USA at Roosevelt Airfield, ferrying 'Vought Corsairs".
4.  sister RHEA SPEARIN McLEOD b. 12 Dec. 1908, Blairgowrie, Nurse.  died 1965.  Not known if married or had children??.
(Details of their eldest brother are known; he was JOHN MURDO MCLEOD,
b. 2 May, 1899, Fettercairm; died 27 Oct. 1977, Bishopriggs, Glasgow.  Railway Purchasing Officer.  Marr. Jane Fletcher Hendry b. 1908, d. 20 Jan. 1978 Bishopriggs (Restauranteur's saleswoman)- they had five children.)  Any help with any of these people?  Thanks Ruth
