my guess is that he will show up on the 1911 census (assuming he was still alive) in one of the counties next to Wexford, which are not online yet
is it possible that he have moved to, or was on a trip to, somewhere in Carlow or Wicklow?

Might not be your Richard, but RecordsSearch have a Death for Richard Sterne in Gorey (Ballycanew is only 6 miles away, so it is the right district) Ballycanew is now a small village Information removed due to copyright violation. See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/copyright.php for more details
