Looking for the burial records for my OH's granddad who doesn't appear to be on any death registers anywhere (The Oh is currently looking for the death cert he's sure he's got). The OH's dad had told him, years ago, where he was buried in Hull so I was wondering if there's a place on-line to go and look for him? Unfortunately we can't ask the OH's dad as he sadly passed away last year which what's started this journey off.

Thanks!
For some reason we'd never thought that they'd been available at the library. Would that also tell us plot numbers and how to find it?

Thanks....we'll probably go and take a look tomorrow, if we can, and take things from there. This is just to close a door, really...

I shall ring first, although they do have a lot of BMD stuff in the reference library atm although I will check first rather than making a trip and discovering they're not there! I have also got phones numbers from the above link, so I should be able to get some leads from those too :-)

Hi
You can see the records at the crematorium on Chanterlands Avenue. You need to book, when I went last year you could only go on a Tuesday. However, its well worth booking. I discovered lots of unknown relatives who had slipped between the census records.
The staff are very helpful, they helped me with my research and provided me with maps of where the burial plots are.

I wrote to the crematorium on Chanterlands Avenue a couple of years back, as I live too far away to visit, and didn't even get an acknowledgement. Is it worth trying again? Will they do a search for people like me who can't get to Hull?

Hi Lizzie
I'm not sure, you could try emailing them
public.protection@hullcc.gov.uk
At least they will be able to tell you one way or another. Good luck

Or you can ring them - 01482 614975 Bereavement Services, based at the crematorium (these are the people who helped me find when he'd died, and even where the plot is)

Lizzie, do you know where it is? I might be able to at least find out if it's still there...

No, my g.grandparents died in 1926 and 1935 respectively. They lived on Hessle Road at the time, and it was suggested to me that the cemetery that was nearest to Hessle Road no longer exists.
I'm only interested in case there was anything on the gravestone(s) if they had one, that might throw some light on my g.grandfather's background, but I doubt it. I have his will and that had no clues at all.

Does their wedding certificate give you no information about his job or whatever? That might be an avenue to go down... Also, as we have recently learned - being buried in the nearest cemetery doesn't always happen x
