COMPLETE All Saints Church, Stranton, Hartlepool
« on: Wednesday 26 August 09 18:45 UTC (UK) »

Hello

This is a little short notice, but I am heading to All Saints Church, Stranton, Hartlepool to look around the graveyard in hope that I can find some of my ancestors.

If anyone would like me to look for a grave while I am there let me know and I will do my best.

Emma

Would be greatful if you could find info on Thomas Smith aged 29years who's burial was in January 1852 at All Saints Church Stranton. (Anglican) He was married to Ann Kirkley and they ran the Waterloo Inn on the Headland Hartlepool at the time? Huh
Thanks

Janis, I found 1 Lamb grave.

Names of note on the headsotne are William Lamb died 25th may 1784 aged 76, his wife Elizabeth died Oct 25th 1786 Aged 76

William their son 1802 Aged 60

Margaret his wife 1829 aged 81

There is another death on the stone but the name is no longer visible.

I took a couple of photos of the grave and am happy to give you a copy, however it might be  a week or two as my PC which has the memory card reader has died on me and I haven't got a clue where the USB cable is for my camera so I can connect to my laptop.

creamolafoam, sadly no grave for Thomas Smith, I didn't find any of my family either.  Sadly most of the stones are so old, they are no longer legible.

THANKS A BUNCH!!!!!   I know my Nicholas Lamb parents were William and Margaret--looks like I have the grandparents now.

Love a pic when you find your cord.  I lost mine once too but with some laptops you can plug the memory card right into the side in a slot.

My laptop only takes a SD card and mine is a Sony memory stick.  I have found the cable now tho.  The Photos are over 3Mb each so won't let me upload them on here I could resize them but the quality won't be a s good.

I you send me a PM with you email address I'll email them to you.  I have one of the grave in full with a bit of the church in the background and the other is a closeup.

Emma,

Thanks for the effort.  Was worth a try.  Pity some of the stones are worse for wear.  Our Thomas Smith is still a puzzle?  Good results for The Lamb family  though.  I have an A-Z print out of 301 records for All saints in Stranton provided by contributors on line (although not complete) if you aren't already aware of it Huh by david.ollerton@sky.com  (or I can email it to you?)  Good wishes in your family searches.

Carol

Thank you, I had come across that list in the past, however it only lists one Mordecai which is the surname I was looking for, but know that there are more buried there.  Its nice to find a headstone for the name you are looking for.  Sadly I found none that day and I visited a few church yards.

Some days are luckier than others.

Regards
