Lizzie, I get a problem when I try to modify something like just now ,I wanted to delete part of my message as it was off topic, I did so but could not then send the amended reply so the original one stays! It will be something gormless I am or am not doing--- what is the question. Sorry can`t help you as i am a nerd at this computer lark, hope you get it sorted. Viktoria.

Hi Lizzie
I've had that message loads of times and sometimes have lost what I have written which is very frustrating
Use the back arrow to get back to your reply and copy it into a word doc so you don't lose it
Use your back arrow again to quit and get back to the post and then use the reply button again and copy your reply back
Works for me!

Hi Viktoria
I've had that one as well. If Rootschat is slow - messages take absolutely ages to leave your screen and you can often get "timed out"
Sometimes it's ok and the amended message/reply appears but sometimes not
Use your back arrow on your browser to get back to your original message and start again

Hi Lizzie,
is it possible that the date (or time) set on your computer is wrong?
It could be that when it tries to list the message, the time stamp appears to be set before the previous message.

Thank you everyone. I just felt the Mike Harding reference was a bit out of place in the middle of such a sad topic as the deaths of all those children so wanted to delete it. Viktoria.

I think when RootsChat's servers are busy, these errors start to occur. Several times today, I've posted something, pressed Post and waited and waited, and waited..... In the end, I've pressed Page Reload on my browser, and I get a warning that someone else has replied to the post ....... ME !

It usually happens to me late at night, probably the busiest time. Europeans still on here, Americans coming on and also Australians/New Zealanders etc.

Often when I read "unread posts", and reply to one I can never get back to the ones I have not yet read. Why does that happen?I can never find them again, it will be me because I am an idiot when it comes to computer know-howI FREELY ADMI! ! !. Viktoria.

@ Carole, have you tried going into your profile and unsubscribing there ??
This profile page list all topics to which you will receive e-mail notifications, when somebody posts a reply to the topic. You can disable the notifications on this list. http://www.rootschat.com/help/profile04.php
@ Vicktoria,
if you are in any list of topics (on board, 'unread posts, search results, etc) then press control when you click on the link (firefox) or on shift (Internet Explorer). The new topic will come up in a new tab/window, and you still have the original list in another tab/window.
this applies to any link, on any website, not just the links on RootsChat.
