Does anyone have any information on the now vanished hamlet of Danton Pinch. This collection of houses once stood on what is now the north perimeter of the Channel Tunnel terminal at Folkestone. I have a good aerial photo taken c.1986, but I'd really like some personal memories of this quaint place.

Did you try Googl'ing it? I just did, and although I didn't read them, there were a lot of hits.

Yes, that was the first thing I did. The "hints" are repetitive and lead nowhere. I'm after firsthand stuff from former residents.

Hi What I always new as Danton Pinch is still in place, it is about half way up the escarpment and leads off Danton Lane which goes from Newington at the bottom to the top of the downs. You may find it on google earth, I will look for it later.
Happy to give more info if you would like it. Andy in Folkestone

I was just so amazed to see the aerial photograph of Danton Pinch. I was born at No 2 back in 1947 and have been searching for photographs of any kind that might have an image of this location. Your aerial photograph is the closest I have got to it. About a month ago I visited the area. Danton Lane still exists albeit buried by trees and bushes. At the bottom end it just vanishes and the Channel Tunnel Development seems to have created a new footpath. However there is still a line of trees that may contain some remains of houses but its well fenced off to the public. I suspect sadly that all traces of the hamlet have been bulldozed away. Thanks anyway for your aerial photograph. I will keep searching for archive pictures of the houses. Am I sad or what!!!! Now that I have started I just can't let it go. Will post any results.
