Struggling!
« on: Thursday 27 August 09 16:34 UTC (UK) »

Could anyone please confirm whether John Fairbairn - married to Alison Ainslie 1792 - is the son of John Fairbairn and Elizabeth Carse?  2 Children Robert and William Fairbairn, sons of John Fairbairn were christened at Abbey St Bathans in 1787 and 1794.
Any further details (marriages, children) of either or both John's would be appreciated.

Hi Jonjor
I have found christenings for 2 daughters of John Fairbairn and Elizabeth Carse on familysearch.org:
Jennet Fairbairn: 02 SEP 1766   Swinton And Simprin, Berwick, Scotland
Agnes Fairbairn: 26 MAY 1760   Swinton And Simprin, Berwick, Scotland
From the same website I see that John and Elizabeth were married in Swinton/Simprin.
On Scotland's People put in John Fairbairn with parents John Fairbairn and Elizabeth C*s; Berwick; Swinton and there was one recorded in 1769. Hopefully this will be yours.

Morning Rae
As I still seem to be struggling to sort the John Fairbairns out wondered if
you would be good enough to see if you could sort the following details out for me.  Understand if you can't and I'll do another post.
Should like any details about a John Fairbairn married to Elizabeth Yale
in c1775/1780
A Robert Fairbairn was christened at Abbey St. Bathans on May 22 Aug 1787 and William Fairbairn again christened At AbbeySt. Bathans 22 May 1794. Both enteries give father as John in Channabank.
Would appreciate any help to finding the name of their mother.  Could it be Elizabeth Yale?
Think there are more children than these two children but I'm particularly interested in William
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.

Morning Ev
You get all the brownie points this week!!  What a find I've had through your suggested site.  Never thought I'd manage to get back to 1714 and find so many more children in the family.  It may also help trace two more that seem to have gone 'missing' in the late 1880's. Again, many thanks.  It now means I'm no longer 'struggling' with this part of the family.

morning Jonjor  Smiley

yes , that tree seems to have been fairly well researched , and while they
can be a great help it's important to keep in mind that they might not be 100%
