Change of file size **COMPLETE**
« on: Friday 28 August 09 19:18 UTC (UK) »

Does anyone know why when I open a jpeg and change it to mirror image the file size is greatly reduced upon saving the file. Will I lose anything from the image if I want to get it printed? Huh

Hi Beekay

Every time you amend and save a jpg you will lose some quality as the compression algorithm does its job - its best to save as a lossless format - .png or tif and only save as a jpg for final distribution if there are limits on file size transmission.

Also you need to check the amount of compression your image programme is applying to the jpeg on saving - this can usually be adjusted depending on the programme being used

Hope that helps
