this ... has narrowed down the date of her father’s death from 12 possible matches to only 2, one is an almost perfect match.

I got the Death Cert. this morning for the man I believed to be Julia's father. He was aged 52, occupation Labourer and the address of the informant (his wife) was Lime Kilns, Balgriffin. Everything fits.

I think I can call this complete now unless anyone comes up with any other ideas. Only other possibility I can think of were that there were 2 Julia's, possibly cousins, living in the same area.

Many thanks for all your help.

Dara.

An act of heroism by a young girl was reported Monday from a spot near Dublin. Two boys... limekiln... Julia Dignam, the young daughter of a labourer, rushed up... Unaided she dragged the body out of the kiln.. The coroner and jury passed a high eulogiam on the brave girl...

Dara,
You may be interested in this map of Balgrifin. I reckon its sometime after the   Dublin to Belfast railway line was installed as its on another part of the map.
You can see LIME HILL HOUSE to the left of St Doulagh's Well.

Many thanks for the map. Unfortunately I'm not able to make out the detail writing , probably due to my computer resolution.

Do you know where I can view the original map? I might be able to make out the detail from a hard copy.

Thanks,

Dara.

I know this is marked COMPLETED - I thought you'd like to know that I passed "Lime Hill" on Wednesday last on my way to the airport (by back-roads because of traffic).

There's a gatepost on the Malahide road clearly marked, just before St Doolagh's church.
