I found this a fascinating search especially after I searched back for the 1871 address. The page itself just says Railway Hut for all the entries. This image must give some feel of their living conditions at the time.

A family member once told me that James who was married to Betsey (Elizabeth Southwell) died and James married a Ann Bass abt 1890 Sculcoates, maybe this would help finding him after the 1881 census if this info is true.

I found him in 1891 eventually - masquerading under a different name in the index! I fell across son Frederick in the process so he is here as well.
