James Heron 1899
« on: Saturday 29 August 09 23:24 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
Im really trying to locate any Infomation i can regarding a Mr James Heron who was born roughly in 1899 in Belfast (i think?). He moved to South Wales (Newport) and married a lady called Violet M Woods. Im really struggling to find any information on him or the Heron family tree which he comes from. If anyone has any helpful tips that would be amazing!
Thank you

Hi and welcome to RootsChat

You can look for people in Ireland in 1911 free at

www.census.nationalarchives.ie

I've had a quick look and there only seems to be 1 James Heron of the right age in Antrim.  Unfortunately the site is playing up at the moment, so I'll let you follow it up  Cheesy Cheesy

If you have the marriage certificate, does it give James's fathers name.
As danuslave says there is one James Heron in 1911 census that fits age wise at : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai001539658/

If this is your james, then this is probably the marriage of his parents:
 Civil Marriage
Date of Marriage 11 Aug 1897
Groom Name thomas john HERRON
Bride Name elizabeth MOORE
Church Ballylinny Presbyterian Church
Parish Ballylinny
Civil District Antrim
County Antrim

Also you could search at : http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347
and : www.familysearch.org

Thank you guys...both Your info has been really helpful. I do hope that it is the same James ive been looking for. 1 last question though... would there be any records for a move of an individual between Ireland and wales around 1920?. Or was this not regulated?
once again many thanks

Ireland was part of the UK and records were not (and still aren't) kept for people travelling between Ireland and Wales, England and Scotland.
