Having just looked up the 1911 census for Co Cavan I have now found the townland where my gggrandfather lived .

House No 1, Drumhirk (Denn, Co Cavan)

Peter McGivney aged 64 yrs farmer, I think he died in 1925
Maria McGivney aged 56 yrs they had  13 children of whom 11 where still living,

Does anybody know of this area and are there any McGivney families still living there.  If there is I would love to get in touch with them.

So glad you have found census.

Yes, Denn still exists.

Have you thought of putting a small advertisment in The Anglo Celt, Cavan's weekly newspaper?
Most Cavan people buy this paper.

That may be a good way to contact living relatives

Telephone directory might be a good place to look also.

Children of Peter McGivney and Maria Smith
Charles, James, Mary, Peter, (My ggrandfather) Susan, Andrew, Margaret, Annie, Nellie, Catherine, Bridget, Rosanne, many of the family emigrated to America.

Do any of these names ring a bell?

   Looks like they had emigrated to jersey city and then came back again before 1911
