Tenancy agreements

My ancestor Thomas Shenton was buried on 13 Dec 1795 in Chelvey.
The burial record says 'He lived 48 years in the Parsonage House as Tenant on the Glebe under the Rectors of Chelvey'.

Does anyone know if these tenancy agreements with the church were written down and if so where were they kept?
The Somerset RO do not seem to have any.

A relative of mine rented a mill at Rimpton Somerset in the late 18/early 19th centuries. The records of his rental very detailed are in the Hampshire Record Office at Winchester; it depends when land or holdings are rented from the church which diocese the village is in, Rimpton is in Winchester diocese etc.etc. Likewise a will of a relative at Haydon Dorset is in Wiltshire archives, Rimpton is in Salisbury diocese. In summary, find  the diocese then go to the appropriate county record office.

Thanks for the tip.
Chelvey is in the diocese of Bath and Wells, so back to the Somerset RO who don't seem to have any Chelvey Tenancy agreements. At least none indexed on A2A.
I may have to visit Taunton and search what they have on Bath and Wells.

What I should have made clear Derek, but didn't is that what you will be looking for is the records of the Bishopric of Bath and Wells.Then take things on to the village etc.My fault.
