WIMBUSH - Births - 1861-1869

I think I need another pair of eyes, because I must be missing the obvious.
I believe James was born in the Leamington area of Warwickshire, based on the census returns. He is not on the 1861 census.
He was the son of James WIMBUSH and Margaret FOX.
1871 census RG10-3195-F94-P26 (age 9)
1881 census RG11-3091-F94-P4 (age 20)

I'm just not able to find his birth registration.
I have the entries of his siblings, although I feel there is an unusually large gap between James jnr (c1861/2) and Rose (c1869).

Have you looked at the 1861 entry for this family

RG9/2222/31/10

They appear to have a daughter Margaret aged 12 b Ireland

In 1871 they also have a daughter Margaret but aged 11 b Trinidad West Indies

Although Civil Reg was introduced in 1837 - many births were unregistered.  It only became a "fineable" offence in 1875

Yes, that's them in 1861. Unfortunately James jnr hadn't joined them by that point.
There seems to have been a confusion over Mary and Margaret by whoever filled out the census return in 1861 (they seem to be lodging at the time) and whoever filled things out transposed the names.
Mary Jane was born in Co Cork 1848
William Henry was born in Co Mayo 1851
Charlotte was born in Co Cork 1853
(I've got all of their RC baptisms and births on the GRO regimental index)
Eliza was born in Co Waterford c1857, but I haven't got her birth or baptism
Margaret was born 1858 in Trindad - got her on the GRO regimental index
James born c1861/2 in Leamington, Warwickshire - can't find his birth
Rose Edith born 1869 in Leamington, Warwickshire - I've got her birth entry
I suspect that there may have been another child between James jnr and Rose.

I know it's possible that their births might not have been registered, although most of my branches seem to have been pretty good about getting things done, then again there will always be the odd one here and there, eh!

Yes - that's true.  My paternal great grandparents had 7 children and only 5 were registered.  One was born &  died between censuses and if it hadn't been for the IGI entry - I would never have known about her
