I wonder if anyone can help me with this please.

I have a relative whose birth cert gives the place of birth as 11 Prebend St. Leicester. I don't think this was a private address of the family so I wondered if this was a nursing home at the time (1923). A quick google search tells me that it was a private house, 'The Cedars' round about the turn of the century, but there is also a reference to the actress Betty Driver being born at the Prebend Nursing Home in Leicester in 1920. Am I putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 or can someone confirm that the nursing home was at this address?
I'd be very interested to hear about the history of the property.

No’. 11 stood on the corner of Prebend Street & Brookhouse Avenue.

When I delivered Milk in these address I seem to remember that the houses were not big enough to be a private nursing home.
Being only two stories high…….

The three stories high houses were at the Collage Street end
Which were Private Schools .

I had  a look at the Electoral Rolls for 1923.

.WARD No’.7
Spring List.

Status.O…………Gardner Gertrude. Jury….11. Prebend Street,

Autumn List.

And same details again
Status = O
This means Gertrude qualified by her Occupation to vote.
