Hello,

I have a copy of the death certificate of Isabella BLACKLEY:

1892 BLACKLEY ISABELLA MCGUIRE RAMSAY F 91 PAISLEY /RENFREW 573/00 0536

1892 Deaths  District of Paisley  County of Renfrew
No 536  Isabella RAMSAY  Widow of 1st John Blackley  Mason Journeyman  2nd Francis Ramsay  Farmer
1892 May Sixteenth  12 h. noon  23 Broomlands Paisley  F 91 years
Thomas McGuire  Farmer (dec)  Mary McGuire MS Ellist ? (dec)
Senile decay as certified by John Holms? [Holme?] M.D.
Catherine McNaughton  Daughter (Present)
1892 May 17th at Paisley  Hugh Allison  Registrar

What puzzles me is that her death listed under BLACKLEY and yet it says she married Francis RAMSAY, I presume after the 1891 census where she is listed as BLACKLEY:

All Census listings are Crown Copyright, National Archives.

The ages of Mary and Catherine seem to be wrong. Mary is about 5 years older:

1851

Thomas son age 21 occ iron moulder born Ireland
Mary dau age 19 occ warehouse sewster? born Ireland
Isabella dau age 17 occ shread twiner born Ireland
Sarrah dau age 15 occ weavers asst born Ireland
Cathren dau age 13 occ house servant born Ireland

So far they can't be found in 1841 census, so perhaps they came to Scotland between 1841 and 1851. So far I have found no trace of Isabella's spouse John BLACKLEY. I can't find the marriage yet. Thomas was possibly the first born about 1830. The Pilot FamilySearch site still won't load. Over the last 6 months I have tried every possible combination with 4 different browsers, 3 different versions of Java, three different versions of .swf, two different ISPs, all with no luck.

Apart from the name McGUIRE (MAGUIRE) I have nothing to connect Isabella to Fermanagh apart from this private IGI entry:

b. 1801 Magherstaphania, Fermanagh  - Thomas & Mary

Son Thomas, born about 1830 Ireland, married in 1852 in Paisley so I will start a topic on the Renfrew board for him and his family.

Civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1864 (other marriages from 1845) so you will not find records in indexes (LDS Pilot Site) for earlier dates.

b. 1801 Magherstaphania, Fermanagh  - Thomas & Mary"
This IGI record is submitted, not extracted, and would need to be verified by checking the original source. Seanruad (www.seanruad.com) doesn't show any townland in Fermanagh called Magherstaphania so it's possile this record is not accurate. Maguire is a common Fermanagh surname so there's really no guarantee that this Isabella is the correct one.

Thanks, yes, I said 'private' IGI meaning I knew it was submitted not extracted and therefore suspect. From the family name Fermanagh is likely. I'm wondering what chance of finding the Thomas McGUIRE & Mary ELLIST ? marriage. Since it's around 1800 I guess not much chance. Yes, if the age at death of 91 is correct then Isabella was born around 1801 and married probably a few years before 1830. I guess there is not much hope of finding the marriage or the death of spouse John or the birth of Thomas around 1830 or the other children born in Ireland.
