Family Trees
« on: Tuesday 01 September 09 01:36 UTC (UK) »

I have one combined Tree for the families of both my wife and myself. Is this satisfactory or should I have a separate Tree for each family.?  I would appreciate some guidance from experienced Legacy users.

Hi There,

I do not call myself experienced at all when it comes to legacy but I have split my tree as there were too many in the main one.

I have now divided it into different surnames so that I can concentrate on one branch at a time.

Can you split it once started as one tree.?
Ignore that question I have found the answer in Help where I should have looked!!

Yes you can. There is something in the help section of legacy which will explain how to do this. It is under split trees.

I am sure there are others that can help as well

HI, Not a legacy user (I use rootsmagic  Wink ) but I started out using one tree but as the tree grew and I started to research sideways it became just too big so I split mine and it is now much easier to manage.  You can always merge them again!

Appreciate your help. I will do likewise with our tree and see how it grows. Thanks.
